I grew up memorizing scripture. When we were at FBC Orlando, Art Murphy was the children's minister and he created a graded scripture memory system that grew with the child. Similar to what is used in Awana's now. I being the overachiever that I am completed all 7 levels and still have the certificated and plaques to prove it. After 6th grade I became very involved in Acteens, which is an extension of GA's for youth. In that program there was also scripture memory. None of that is really the point, just back history. After HS I have not memorized much scripture. I was wondering why it is that for the first 16 years or so of my life this was a high priority and the next 14 or so...... it has not been.
Many of the scriptures that I learned are lost, or at least their address is. I started to become aware of how little I knew or still had memorized when I started attending the Beth Moore Bible Study live at FBC Houston. She not only knows the word, but she can quote quite a bit of it. Then right around Christmas I got the email invite to the upcoming bible study, which led me to her blog. ALL GOD!!!! Beth is challenging ladies to learn two scriptures a month of their choice or they can learn the one she is. Don't want to ruin it for you, read all about it yourself. It is amazing. All the people banning together to hid God's word in their heart's. Check it out!

On another note, the 100% gluten-free resolution is going very well. It is so hard. So many things that you can't have. I started out a year and half ago on this new journey and the first six months I did really good, but after that I started cheating and it just went down hill from there. No matter how hard it is I must do this for my mental and more importantly physical health.
Great blog that makes gluten-free cooking, eating, and living look colorful and doable.
