One Thing

KSBJ is asking their listeners to change "One Thing". I guess this is instead of making useless resolutions that are broken as soon as they are made . The idea is to think of that one thing that you have always wanted to do or change FOR GOOD! Then spend the entire year focusing on that one thing.

Not sure that I can do this. Praying for the Lord to lead me to my one thing. I don't want it to be frivolous, but at the same time not something lofty and unattainable.

This week I had my Varsity Choir Girls do a similar exercise, but with 5 things. I asked them to list 5 things to improve/goals for their personal character development, 5 things they want to do or accomplish, and 5 goals for our choir. I have not read them, but I hope that some of them took it to heart and put some thought into it. I never ask my students to do anything that I would not do myself so here goes:

Character:
1. grow my capacity to love as Christ loves
2. control my mouth- gossip, judgments, yelling, etc.
3. enlarge my territory
4. stop embellishing, exaggerating, lying in any form (this will be hard for the story-telling diva)
5. develop relationships built on Christ's love and character

Things I want to Accomplish
1. Read 20-30 books this year
2. take more pictures, especially of family
3. spend time with family and friends
4. lose 40 pounds
5. grow my hair out some more

Choir Goals
1. Personal relationship with every student
2. UIL Sweepstakes
3. Transition/Future
4. Quality not Quanity
5. More Socials/Fun/Relationship Building Activities

I wonder what other people's "One Thing" is or there goals. I am afraid that many people float through life without growing; spiritually, mentally, physically, or in relationships. They have accepted the status quo and feel as if this is all that life can be or will be. I REFUSE to be one of those people and pray that they get a clue.......
