ADHD...... I don't have it do I? I was 27 and no one has ever said those words. I have been medicated in my life before, but never for that. I can't have it, I am smart, have two college degrees, can sit through a movie and a long church service, it can't be true.
I was shocked when my doctor said the ADHD words to me within five min. of seeing me for the first time. My mother on the other hand was not. Meds were not available when I was young and it was not the "hot topic" with moms. After about five different drugs and doses we have finally found the right drug. I must confess that I don't take it all the time. Sometimes I forget to take it, sometimes I don't want to take it.
After living 27 years with this brain of mine having a doctor tell me that I am great, but not functioning at my best. I am easily distracted, have at least twenty projects going at a time, can hear four conversations going on at once, just to name a few of my crazy skills. Still I feel that many people know very little about ADD and ADHD, especially in adults. It is discussed a lot with children and being in education I am faced with both the good and bad of this condition. I really want to learn more about ADD and ADHD to help myself, my students, and others.
Their are many that are over-medicated, under-medicated, or not medicated at all. Some educators and doctors believe that you can grow out of this, stop it by diet and discipline. Not sure what my real feelings are, but hope to figure all this out with the help of my great doc Schoonie.......

Catching Up!
I forgot all about this blog thing I set up last year. I really do want to use it, but when you have to check two emails, facebook, myspace, etc. it is easy to forget. Some people are on facebook and others are on myspace so I feel like I need both even though I really like facebook much better. Who knows this may become my favorite form of communication?
We came home and I got to spend some quality time with Tristan, my almost 3 nephew. He is so cute and funny. We kept him over 4th of July weekend so his mom and dad could go away for the weekend. While he was here we went to the pool, the park, walked the dogs, played lots of good guy/bad guy, watched Justice League, and didn't get much sleep.
The end of the week (July 10-11)I attended Joy of Singing workshop for a day and a half. It was lots of fun and I got to sing over 125 new titiles and see some friends. On Friday night after I got finished the family and I went to eat at one of my all time favorite mexcian food places Uncle Julio's. It was so good!!!! Dad and I went to church on Sunday at FBC Euless and then Rebekah came over last night and we got in the hot tub and played boggle.
This week I will only be here a couple of days then off to see Nicole in Athens/Canton area. After that I must return to Houston to see if my cats are alive, pay bills, and do some work at my apartment.
The best part of the summer is coming, TCDA in San Antonio and then Gulf Shores with the fam.!!!!!! I can hear the beach waves now.......
